Help ID a crab

[Octupus]

i saw it last night and saw it again tonight. it is not very hairy but the pincers are black and it seemed to be eating from the rocks. Any ideas what it could be? I will post a picture shortly but would be great if someone has seen such a creature and hopefully it is not a bad one. thank you

Unfortunately, that describes A LOT of hitchhiker crabs. If I'm not mistaken, a general rule of thumb is that if it's claw tips are black, it's generally bad.

Black and hairy is usually bad. Maybe you'll get lucky and have something cool.
