Recently bought a tank and these anenome looking things have been popping up all over the tank. I would say probably around 6-8 that I have seen. Anyone know what these could be or if they are bad for your tank. They are green with bright pink tips.

Those are Majano anemones. They dont sting coral or fish, but they will very rapidly take over. They will pop of real easy so if you dont want them they are easy to remove.
They dont set their foot in holes like aiptasia does.

They can be real pretty but they spread like the plague in my previous tank and it only took them a few months to do so. If only the coral that you wanted would grow that fast!

They can indeed sting corals. You will note this when they land in the middle of a Zoa colony

I heard mention that they do not sting coral. Every one that I have gotten has been in the middle of zoa colonies and the zoas were never bothered by them.

All Anemones carry nematocysts. They are inside the tenticles and are released with stands that contain nematocysts which are stinging cells containing venom which can damage or even kill other aquarium fauna. Some are more dangerous than others such as a few short tenticled carpets. When an anemone is disturbed by another animal, fearing the possibility of being harmed, or has territorail issues; it defends itself. Aptasia is worse, but Majanos are anemones and thus can sting. I have found that zoas spread away as in grow apart from them, making "room" for the majanos.
