The discussion about iodine aside, how does one properly care for xenia? I have a xenia frag in my QT that isn't looking so hot. I put 2x65W PC's on the tank yesterday and will see if that helps.

But what about feeding?

that is the problem that i still have slick, my xenias arent doing could. the one is almost gone!

iodine

I had been dosing iodine and was told by the LFS guy not to. He said if you want to add iodine use the red nori. I see you have tangs and a rabbit fish, that would be perfect for them and the tank. Good luck!

If ever in doubt about water quality....Water change, remember same temp and same salinity...

Lighting issues can go either way. A lot of us mistake xenia for anthelia. Their lighting needs are a little different. They thrive in nutrient rich tanks. No direct feedings are needed.

The problem maybe you have too much lighting for them. How close are they to the surface?

If it didn't already encrust on the lr try moving it lower and out of the direct exposure. Is it in high flow? It may need lower flow. Have you tested NO3 NO2 NH3 recently? Is it near any other corals? Using carbon?
Protein skimming? I could put a laundry list up but I think you get the picture. Mike.

If I understand correctly your first post, you already had xenia in your tank and added another kind. What I don't understand is if only the new xenia is melting or if all the xenia is melting?

If only the new xenia is melting this could be due to the fact that xenia doesn't ship well and sometimes is hard to acclimate to new environments.
