I have a 20g long tank with 2clowns and a scooter blenny. My concern is that I have a !big! GSP(first coral) on my biggest lr and a lot of button polyps(hitch hikers) on my second biggest rock. I just upgraded my light to mh and now have a few SPS frags. I'm worried that especially the GSP and buttons will not suit the sps well. Any idea how I could overcome this problem without sacrificing too much??(btw, I'd like to keep the sps more than the softies)

thanks

If you skim wet and run carbon as well as do regular WCs you should be fine as long as the GSP dont physically over run the SPS. Alot of reefers keep a mixed reef without problems including myself.

just watch for the white film of death....

i have Gsp and sps and lps rather close 2 each other, some time when the flow isnt right and some bodys downstream of someone else they dont like..... u can see

I'd be more worried about the SPS dying from lack of calcium and alkalinity in such a small tank.

Stay on top of dosing and water changes!

trido: how often do you do wcs? and doesnt running carbon get kind of spendy?

I do 2-3 10% WC's a month. I used to a DIY carbon reactor that held about two cups of cheap carbon. I change it monthly. I recently upgraded my reactor to a bazooka that holds two pounds of carbon. It will cost about $10 to change it every month and a half.

Very good point. If you get many SPS, WCs alone wont keep up with Ca./Alk demands.

cool, thanks! Yeah, I'm always checkin on the calcium, etc...
a lfs told me to just put a bag of carbon in my skimmer(remora... i think) for 24hrs.

any idea how I could get the GSP off the rock?(without of course killing it)

i wouldnt put anything in a remora... they work so well as it is... why alter.

but for carbon ya it helps
