I'm assuming these are palys and not zoos. Pardon their condition, they're freshly glued. lol. But I love the color of them, mostly yellow with a hint of pink in the middle. Even their stalks are yellow.

I can't answer if they're zoas or palys. I've yet to figure out the difference...lol. Nice clear pictures and well focused...but try using a custom white balance if your camera is capable. That'd help show true colors.

Actually I did use a custom white balance, and that IS perfect. lol. Thats exactly what I see in my tank with the naked eye.

IMO I would have these higher in my tank.I have some yellow zoas that will get more green if I move them to the bottom.

The tank is a 12" tall 8gal nano. Higher really isn't an option. lol.

So are they at the top of your cube?Yellow polyps need more light to retain there yellow color. What lights does your cube currently have?

Of the four primary groups of Palys, there are dozens, perhaps hundreds of species with many different popular names. Here are a couple articles on Palys including a recent genetic discovery that Protopalythoa is just another type of Palythoa.

I have a colony of these growing in my tank. Really pretty under 20k. I don't know about yours, but the heads of mine seem too big to be zoa's. But! Mine don't stand as tall as most Palys do either, so I don't know. I got them as part of a zoa frag pack sight unseen. Mine seem to be doing well, though they aren't spreading nearly as fast as the rest of my colonies.

Recently figured out the difference between Palys and Zoas. Has nothing to do with head size and how they attach to the mat makes little difference either. It's all about the sand....lol.

Palys use sand in the structure of their mat and stems. Zoanthids don't. That's the difference. Sometimes, taking a picture that shows their stems and enlarging the pic on your monitor will show the sand, sometimes you can see it with the naked eye.
