Ok am I crazy or am I really seeing my hermit crabs eating the coralline off my rocks. I noticed it because I have a few rocks completely covered but over the last few days I have noticed it speckled white from where it looks like the crabs are munching on them.

Never heard of them doing that before...Someone else will have to chime in on that one...In any event, do you have any urchins in the tank? If so, they are known to do that:)

Ahh...Well, coraline starts out white sometimes as well which could be what's happening or what you are seeing. Then again, it might be just like you said...The hermits eating it. I'll tag along to see if anyone else has experienced that before:)

My hermits don't eat it but I have some starfish that do. Also removing a rock with coraline on it from water wil somtimes cause it to bleach and then later some back or dissolve in my experance. Might be just parts of the cycle with a new tank as well.

I am thinking that is whats happening natural die off. I am still keeping an eye on those hermits though.
