Hi all,

Just popped in to say hello.
Have a 350 lt reef-tank.
Been reefing for 7 years now. Learnt so much from forums.
You can bet your bottom dollar if you have a reef related question, some-one has already has an answer here.

Trying to find info how to connect a Arduino up to fade LEDs (but that's for another thread).

Cheers,
Rolan

Hey Welcome Rolan. Look forward to your participation here. Your experience and knowledge will be helpful and appreciated. Look forward to seeing your set up too.

Welcome to RF!!!!!

most of us are on the PST time zone, just curious what the time difference is?

Hi estanoche, IPisces, mercenary-grunt, Krish and NC2WA,

Thanks for the friendly welcome.
Our Time zone is known as WST – Australian Western Standard Time offset by UTC + 8 hours.
We think we are + 9 hours to Los Angeles and + 12 hours for New York.
You can check the tank out at

Only an IP cam so not the best quality and colour is way off, but allows us to monitor tank remotely while away (temp over reads by 1 C).
Also handy for home security as cam can be rotated with admin control.
Changes to infra-red when light fades.
When away we open the sump door so cam can be tilted down to check ATO and skimmer are OK etc.
Recently while away during a cold snap temp dropped to 23 C managed to phone a friend and thank goodness no damage occurred.
Just updated to DIY LED lights.
Next project is an Arduino sunrise/set controller.
Reef tank is never really finished.
Looking forward to learning a whole lot more through discussions on this great forum.
Cheers,
Rol

mercenary,

my tank is streamed too...just lick the Live WebCam link and then look under my signature for login info...

I saw that. But I thought yours was like a class. I saw times on yours. I guess I was wrong.

Beautiful tank!

Thanks Jozee
Just added a Golden heat gobby and a Bicolour cleaner (?) wrasse yesterday.
Looking at the tank on the laptop I start to see thing out of place.
Like the power head cable and wave makers.
Really need to remove & replace them.
If MP 40's were'nt so expensive I'd go that route.
Looked at some Tunze yesterday which is the alternative cost wise.
Problem with cheap wave makers some times start up in reverse which is a pain for tank circulation.
Perhaps DC is the way to go?

NC2WA have'nt been able to view your cam yet as the viewing program won't load but will try again later.
Got to do a water change now!

PS- How do you insert a by-line at the bottom of a post?

Cheers

Rol,

Did you install the ActiveX control? It is required to use the camera.

To insert line below, you need to modify you signature..Under Forum Actions, click Edit Profile. On the left nav bar, click Edit Signature and updated appropriately.

Thanks NC2WA I'm Learning all the time.

I'm using Firefox which worked straight off, but for explorer there's a download on this page:http://fish.no-ip.org:8060/
Hope that helps.

Hi NC2WA,
Managed to check out your IP cam.
You've got some beauties there, large tank too.
Is your cam switched off at times?
I switch off for feeding & water changes.

Rol,

thanks....tank is 375 gallons, total water volume with sump is 475 gallons...

No, cam is not turned off for feedings, etc...lights on a 11am and off 8pm PST.
