Hey, does anyone have any experience with either Hi-tech or Global aquarium supply external powerheads? I know that mounting can be a pain and championlighting has a bracket, but they don't show a picture. I am in a place where encorporating a closed loop, even with a calfo manifold would be quite difficult. I hate my powerheads, especially the suction cups, and this may be a good solution if they would work okay.

Specifically, my tank is a 170 gal 60Lx22Wx30T tank. I have a 3/4 inch and 1/2 in seaswirl tied into my return for random flow, two seios (820s) and two maxijet 1200s. Not enough flow currently for my sps.

The bonus would be that most of it sits outside the tank, and there are no suction cups and they could basically be placed anywhere around the upper lip of my eurobrace. They are reasonably priced as well....close to a seio actually, but more water movement and lower profile.

Tunze old school style is the same thing and time tested. Look in Marine depots catalog and they are speed controllable if I remember correctly. Braquets would probley work because it looks like a copy of the other unit. I think they have a picture in the catalog as well. Steve

wow, except that they are wicked wicked expensive. They are like 4x the cost of the hi-techs. Why buy the old school tunzes when the new ones are similar in price?
