I've noticed my acropora and some of my other corals haven't been polying out and they're losing some color. I tested and found out that my calcium is up at about 500ppm. I'm going to start bring my calcium level down. I would like to know what effect it will have on my corals.

Hello,
Typically high calcium levels are more hazardous to pumps than corals. You should not see any color, polyp extension change, or change in growth rate by reducing calcium. Be sure to check your alkalinity and magnesium because with calcium being so high it usually skews those numbers as well. I like to keep my calcium at 400ppm plus or minus 20ppm.

HTH,
Kevin
