I used to get a lot of similar service calls. It was usually the outlet used the most ie; vacumn cleaner etc. I hate those stab in outlets. We used to walk around the house/apartment and bang on the wall near the outlets to find them too, made the lights flicker (usually) when you were near the culprit.

We all pay attention to those ones we load up with 3 ways and 4 ways, but this was actually a unused outlet.
