INSTALLING AN RO/DI AND IT SAYS to FLUSH THE MEMBRANE BEFORE INSTALL, BUT HOLDING IT TO THE FAUCET DOESN'T (caps on sorry) seem to do any- thing but shoot water up at me. any advice?

Don knows a lot more about RODIs, but if you have the water flow from the input and all out the waste water output without it's restrictor in lieu of through the membrane and DI, that is basically flushing it.

If your just installing a new sytem, connect it as stated in the insruction manual. After thats done disconnect the last cartrige from the membrane and turn it on for a few minutes. What your looking for is carbon fines. Once it runs clear then reconnect it. Then just turn the system on normally and disgard the first 20 gallons and you will be fine from then on.

All a flush valve does is bypass the flow restrictor. Its the same as taking the membrane out of the cartrige and blasting it with your garden hose. I dont know why any company would void the warranty. Dow suggest using flush valves as long as your not bypassing the carbon and dumping chloramine into the membrane it wont hurt anything.
