Stan Has A Point About Mushrooms. But Often Mushrooms Are The First Or One Of The First Purchases When Starting The Reef Hobby. They Are Often Low Light Tolerant And Can Handel A Wide Range Of Water Quality Conditions And These Corals Work Well With Zoos, Leathers And Softy Corals. And Species Tanks Such As Host Anemone Setups. The Fast Growing Species Ie Reds Become Problematic In A Stony Coral Tank. They Often Seem To Grow At The Base Of Stony Corals Killing The Lower Polyps
And Spreading Their Way Up. If Left To Their Own Growth Rate They Would Take Over An Entire Reef Tank. In Nature When Populations Become High Often Predators Such As Copperbanded Butterflies Keep Them In Check. The Only Problem With Introducing These Types Of Fish Into A Reef Tank Is They Are Often Indiscriminate On What They Eat. At Least This Is My Expierence. Others I Have Heard Of Keep Butterflies And Have No Problems With Them.

Hey gobie, do you think you could stop capitalizing the first letter or every word please? I want to read what you have to say but I find myself skipping your posts because they hurt my brain. I read each word like its the begining of a sentance. Thanks

As for you Ed, is there a way that you could cover the mushrooms up with something? Maybe if you block the light they would stop proliferating, and any that decide to move could be caught before they settle.

How about a black plastic or acrylic skirt? Cut to fit around the base of your coral and shade the shrooms. then you could take it out when the deed is done.
