I bought some soda ash from BRS. My alk is at 8 dka right now using red sea reef foundation pro testing kit. I want to get it up to 10 at least. Per BRS reef calculator website, my 60gal needs about 130mL. Could I safely dose this amount all at once, say over 5 minutes? Or does it have to be spread out over a 24 hrs period?

ideal is always slow and stead with anything. BUT I am manual dosing still too and add the full daily dose into my overflow. you don't want to raise more than 1dkh per day so, i would add half (65ml) each day. you could do 32.5 every 12 hours and retest at day 2 also.

you could do 30 ml twice a day for 2.5 days then test again

just need to make sure you add it to a high flow area

before you dose, you need to know what your calcium is at. Alk and Ca should be balanced. Then you decide what Alk or Ca you want to achieve and dose accordingly. here is a link to help you figure out the balance: 'Reef Chemistry Calculator FV'
