It always seemed to me if folks have trouble maintaining the larger display systems (like me) how successful can a quaranteen tank be?? Granted some of the challenges keeping the larger tank may be caused by not quaranteening animals.. :::Waiting to have MOTM status revolked:::

I have to say, my run-ins with disease are nill and I have been able to get rid of any "pests" I wanted to rid of without much effort. My biggest challenges are maintaining the chemistry with actively growing animals.

having worked for several saltwater stores, i have noticed that the best sps are always in their own system, not mixed with softies and lps. the amount of corals dying on a weekly basis in "combo" tanks makes life a living nightmarish hell of an existence for sps.
you wanna talk about choco-coral... think about all that leather goo

Just as a side note, if there is anyone looking for ultra hot WHITE acropora table, stag and bottle brush, monti digi and even cap I have a lot of it. These are slow growers and glow kinda blue under actinics.

Tom how slow are those going to grow? Will they all turn green with algae?

Hey Tom - my acro colony now turned into the Ultra White, too. Man that color is hot, isn't it? Brad - my understanding is these can live under any kind of light, and really don't require much for supplementation.

I have also found that theses "ultra whites", can live without water. Anybody else have this experience?

let your dogs chew and break for frags, it stimulates the coral tissue

I just blast my corals with chemicals for a few hours. Calfo said you should quaranteen for a month. both ends of the spectrum.

So are you only doing one dose for RedBugs? Does anyone trust online vendors who state they treat for redbugs and or flatworms?

I did one dose when I did my tank and didn't see it killing anything after 2 hours so I doubled it and they have been gone for a long time... I am really selective where I get coral from now.. but I use iodine and then float in the tank with tank water and interceptor for a few hours.. I need interceptor now though as I am out...

The frags I have pruchased have been from reefermadness and they are a top notch company so I do trust them but some others are in it for only the bottom line So is it really cost effective for them to dose?
