I think this coral may have hydroids which to my understanding are not a good thing. Is there any way to kill them and save the coral?

Hi Greg,
If they are on an area where you can remove them (like the base) then you can use kalk or remove the coral and brush them off.

Kevin

Thanks Kevin.
A lot of them seem to be right where the polyps would normally come out so I was worried about damage. To brush them off do you think an old tooth brush would be ok?

Hi Greg,
Normally the population wanes on its own over time. Unless you see them actually damaging the tissue of the coral I would not worry about them.

Regards,
Kevin
