I pulled apart the only aptasia that I had in my tank, but later found out that that was bad because it could kill off everthing. It there any truth to this?? I hope not. I was cleaning my tank and decided to pull it off a rock full of xenia, of course it came apart in pieces, Any info will be apreciated.

It probably won't kill anything, but it will tend to make the overall aptasia population in your system explode...each litte piece of the original one can grow into a seperate, new one...

ya NOT good to pull apart.

Aptasia is one of those things we just have to deal with. Its like any other anemone, leave a part behind and it will grow. Keep those nutrients down, peppers in, and joes juice on hand.

Don't worry... I did the same thing when I started my tank. I got "most" of it, but as the others have mentioned, "most" is not good enough. It's not going to kill everything in your tank, but you WILL get good at nuking aiptasia!

Never used Joe's Juice, but haven't heard anything bad about it. I used Blue Life's Aiptasia Control which is just kalk paste. Works great. Just blob it on the little bugger and it's gone. Also added a peppermint shrimp. Haven't seen an aiptasia in over a year.

Thanks everyone, glad nothing will die, I did buy 2 peppermint shrimp to help. I really hope I get lucky on this one. Will buy some aptasia killer in case I don't get lucky.
