I picked this piece up six months or so ago as green clove polyps with a couple of extras. The clove polyps died off within a month (have horrible luck with them), but the other two corals are doing really well and growing quickly. There are also a couple of tiny clove polyps coming back that are visible between the ones I'm asking for ID on in the photo. Just curious if anyone can pinpoint what the others are?

The polyps on top have no skeletal base, but remind me of one of my pipe organs. What's below is like a mat spreading over the shell...no polyps that close, or open any further than what they show in the photo.

anthelia looks like a pretty close match from some other pics i see out there. thank you! am thinking that the other may be some type of encrusting montipora? it just that i'm used to seeing montis with more pronounced polyps that aren't in such a perfect formation as these.

looking at other porites images, that's got to be the best guess. judging by the other photos out there, i'm glad that my hitchhiker isn't just solid brown or green!

Porites is the most common SPS to arrive on live rock as a hitch hiker. Quite remarkable considering live rock transport methods.

Cheers,
Kevin
