What is this type of coral groing on the old shell of coral!
Didn't put it there and it's growing nicely at the bottom of the tank!!
Just started growing three months after the rock was put in the tank??

Sorry, there just isnt enough detail in the pics. If I was forced to guess, Id say either montipora, pocillopora, or possibly a leather that is just starting to take off.

i with trido on the montipora but no way to tell from your pics... go to frags.org and look up some monti's and see if you can tell.... don't forget to post!!!

the polyps look to be too large for monti, my guess is that there once was a piece of turbinara on that rock. The polyps look like that of turbinara.....

Still can't find what it is but I think matts125 is closer than anyone has got me so far!
Some kind of turbinaria!???
I'll eventually get a good pic cause ther damn thing is groing like a weed!
a month ago I counted 50- 60 one millimeter polyps and now there are hundreds!!!
The thing also has a yellow and green tint to it with atantic lights on!

Heres a new pic !!If you look at the dates you'll see this thing is growing fast!!!!And it's at the bottom of the tank!!!

Hello,
It is most likely an encrusting type Porites. It is common for them to survive live rock shipping. Under 10,000K or less light they appear dark brown to cream depending on the light intensity. Under higher Kelvin bulbs they fluoresce a nice green. Easy to care for, will tolerate a wide range of lighting and flow conditions. It has low defensive abilities so take care to give it space so other corals do not come in contact or fall onto it (will almost always lose).

Regards,
Kevin
