I can't believe it, I'm 52 and I thought that being a roofer and carrying shingles and ladders all the time would keep me healthy. I honestly look very healthy and I'm very strong for my age. Actually, I'm a lot stronger than some of the younger guys that I have work for me but on Aug. 17th, I actually had a heart attack. It felt like I was being choked and a 200 lbs. person was sitting on my chest and left arm. While in the hospital, my 39 year old room mate had the exact same thing as me. One artery 100 % blocked and the other 65% blocked. He only got the chest pains and nothing else. For those of you who did have a real heart attack, what were your symptoms??I did have prior symptoms one week before the real deal but was too stupid to admit to myself that something was wrong. I had a tightening of my neck, chest and left arm but after 2 minutes it would stop, so I told myself that it was just muscle spasms. It would happen once or twice a day for the week prior to my heart attack. Don't be a fool like I was. If you have ANY DOUBT, Don't wait. I hope that this may open your EYES

Dont feel like the lone ranger man I had 3 of them in my 30's. One at home and 2 in the hospital, They took me off world wide deployability in the Amry because of it. Doc's said all due to stress. With me it was numbing in my legs and pain in left arm. I passed out on all 3 occasions, But never needed the paddles or anything like that. They put me on Procardia as a med, made feel like crap, like a zombie. I stopped taking them and just changed my attitude about things. I dont let anything get me upset anymore. Nothing is worth seeing the roots of the grass man. Feel good about the fact your able to type and see the screen. Iam 52 now and live a real relaxed life. Retired from Army after 23 years and I workout daily. Quit smoking and eat healthy with plenty of anti oxidents in my diet. Just be gald you can see the sun rise again.

I'm really happy to here that you are doing well. And a special thankyou for your service in the army. No I don't feel alone at all. It's amazing but everyone knows someone who has had a heart attack. I really just want people to know the different symptoms and don't be an ass like me and pass things off that you have a feeling ,might be something, as a simple muscle cramp or spasm. If that little voice inside your head tells you that you may have a reason to be nervous, call 911 period.:)

Glad to know you are ok.

Best Wishes

Thanks, I'm doing great! I'm just hoping to get the word out there to people about the importance of not brushing off symptoms that may be serious, as nothing. Every minute that goes by while your heart is starved of a blood supply means more heart damage and could be the difference between life and death.
