I'm glad I finally picked up a protein skimmer

I've had it for less than a week and the collection cup has already been full 3 times. It seems like the break in period has just finished. I emptied the cup 20 minutes ago and it's already half full again. I feel bad my water was this bad . Anyone thinking about whether to get a skimmer or not. Get one!

Congrats!!! Some people love to run their skimmer's "wet" which will mean you lose a bit more water with it so if you are filling up too quickly and the skimmate is light in color, then you may need to adjust it some (if you like) to give you a bit dryer skimmate which will be darker in color

Yea this fourth cup was rather clear. The other ones looked like pee.

With the Aqua C Remora, you can raise or lower the collection cup by moving the o-ring that is on it. If you're getting real wet skim, lower the o-ring, which will raise the collection cup.

Also with very wet skimming you should keep an eye on salinity. If you are removing lots of skimmate/saltwater and replacing it with fresh top off your salinity can fall over time. This is usually taken care of by adjusting the salinity of new saltwater during water changes.
