Individual Interceptor Dipping??

Hey boys and girls. It was nice to meet some of you at BCC this weekend. Paul I want to thank you for the Tenius. It really pops under my 15,000 K bulbs

Now to my question. I dont really want to treat my entire tank,so what is the correct formula for individual coral dipping with IC?

Please elaborate on formula and duration of the dip. I have what appears to be only a few acro's with the little red critters and it will be easier overall to do the two that have them.

You can make a fairly concentrated mix with little to no effect to the coral however too strong a dose can sometimes cause some bleaching or browning of the piece. I think you can use about 1/10 - 1/8 of a (large) pill mixed into 5-10 gallons of tank water. At least that is my experience. The bugs can live for upwards of 30 minutes so let it soak for at least that long. It will most likely kill any acro crabs so you may want to pull them out before dipping.

That is a very weak dip will not do much especially if you dont pre dissolve in rodi water. You can easily use a 1/3 of a big dog pill in two quarts of water for 10 minutes. Predisolving the tables in rodi is the trick to getting the main ingredient into the water, other wise its just floating around.

I'll check my stash. I used to get them in bulk cheap from AU. Since the two doctors and others got busted doing the same I can no longer get them grey market.

The trick is getting your vet to give you a perscription, then you can find a place that sells it online.

Just a slight variaton of Don's treatment that we pulled off of RC and use on all our Acros before they are tanked. Use 1/4 of a big dog pill in 4 gallons of water, with a small powerhead (i.e. minijet 404), for 20 minutes. Works like a charm.

When are you going to get something the average reefer can by from an on-line supplier J/K but sure wish we had a dip for these & F/W's that actually worked well!

I do disolve the pills first but haven't made a batch that strong. I guess I'll beef it up next time.
