I was wondering what are the usual #'s for freshly mixed water using instant ocean. I got readings of 380 cal,980 mag., and 10 dKH. Do these sound correct at a s.g. of 1.026

That sounds about right! Try Reef Crystals If you want a little higher levels, same company only like $2 more @ Dr. F&S

I don't know how true this is and its prob not true at all but the guy at the lfs turned me away from reefcrystals claiming that it contained phosphates

Pretty much all salts contain some phosphate and nitrates. You have to pay like twice as much to get something like tunze's salt which is extremely low phosphates and nitrates. Much cheaper to just run a little phosphate reactor.

Tunze salt - 60 bucks

instant ocean/reefcrstals 30-40bucks
small phosban reactor + pump + media - 60 bucks

So the even if you ahve to go out and buy a new reactor and a new pump, it will still pay for itself within two buckets, and then after that your savinga bunch.

PEace,
Jesse
