Sounds great. I should probably look into dimmable drivers for my leds as well. Im looking at rubermaid stock tanks right now. Im envisioning a giant sump full of live rock or agrocrete and low lighting plants/corals. This hobby is too obessive. I only slept two hours last night because I spent all night researching stuff. Garf.org had an interesting article on diy cheap lighting which has got me wanting to do a large frag tank.

I'm doing some fairly big changes tonight with my plumbing. I decided I didn't like my PM Bullet skimmer in the sump because it takes up the whole thing and doesn't leave me any room for a refugium or anything. I also picked up a kent float valve from Dan today and modified it to accept 1/2" tubing. I decided to just run 1 5 gallon container for top off and 1 5 Gallon container for my protein collection cup. I will adjust my skimmer to pull around 5 gallons a week and the gravity fed float valve will keep me replenished so that I only need to fiddle my system once a week. I'm mounting my skimmer to the side of my stand and drilling wholes through the side of the stand for the tubing to pass through. This may look uglier, but I want to be able to easily clean my skimmer without needing to bend over and I can keep an eye on it all the time to get a better feel for it. Hopefully I can post some pics tomorrow when I'm finished.

Pretty good so far, I was up until 2am working everything out. I found out that my GenX 1190GPH pump is actually whisper quite. All the noise comes from it vibrating other things. I moved it outside of my cabinet and onto the floor with some carpet padding under it. The tubing now passes through the side of my cabinet. Unfortunately it is still vibrating the cabinet through the tubing. I switched everything from PVC to vinyl tubing hoping it would help reduce vibrations and it did a little. I may move it farther away, but I don't want to reduce the flow very much since my protein skimmer needs all it can get. The bulkheads to my sump go through the sump and then through the wall of the cabinet and the nut is on the outside cabinet wall. The water then passes up to my protein skimmer which is now mounted on a shelf I built on the side of my cabinet. The water returns from the protein skimmer back through the cabinet and dumps into the sump. I had to drill two holes in my cabinet to do this, but it is pretty cool having my skimmer inline and outside the cabinet where I can easily adjust it and it will stay very clean. I drilled my sump and installed my kent marine float valve and it worked great being gravity fed except for a small leak, so I siliconed it and I'm waiting for it to cure. I now have lots of room in my sump. I may add another wall to sump to hold my pump and put a refugium in there, or I may just buy a 10 or 20 gallon long and drill it to put a bulkhead between the two and use the tank for the refugium.

Pictures are worth a thousand words :) :)

Ya, im actually going to put a back up ups by the stand and mount the powerstrip upside down in the cabinet. This way i can have my heater and other eseentials on a battery incase of power failure.

Just an update:

Looks like we have around 5 people on the list so far. I will keep it at ReefMissoula for at least another week and see what happens.

I saw there was a good amount of people on the list now. Are we planning to get the ball rolling on this, or is it an abandoned idea?

HAHA, we have 10 people now! I am thinking November would be a perfect starting month, I will be trying to figure out the details and sending out an invite email soon. I will keep you guys updated!

Alright I grabbed the list and we have a total of 14 people. I will be writing up an email hopefully tomorrow but November 19 looks to be the date, after Dan closes. Does that work for everyone?
