Hey everyone I would like you to meet my new skimmer! :) It's a Deltec APF600 and it will be going on the new 120 gallon tank that I've been trying to set up the past year. It's finally happening!

As I start the final plumbing and leak test I will post pictures so everyone can see.

I can't wait to see this baby in action as I've read so many amazing things about this skimmer.

Very cool... I was thinking of getting one of these but then I cheaped out. I also saw they have some with self-cleaning heads... even cooler, even more $$$.

yeah, the ones with the cleaning heads were definitely way out of my price range. Nice feature though but I tend to usually clean my skimmer several times a week.

That's a nice skimmer Matt! I'm really falling behind these days...50 reads and I'm just getting here:p Very nice man...Can't wait to see it hooked up on this new tank!:)

krish75 - yeah i've felt neglected by you today! <giggle>

Chuck - yeah I think I'm going to like it as well especially the nice large skimmer cup. which skimmer are you currently running on your 75?

congrats! then we'll be seeing a lot of each other. i think i'm going to work on plumbing of the new tank this weekend.

i wouldn't mind as spring just doesn't seem to want to stick here. it feels like winter again!

LOL...That's sad:p ROFL:lol: Well it isn't sunny here so don't feel bad. It's been raining and windy off and on all week!

I have the Turbo TS1250 ... sits in the sump.

I am planning on an over the back unit for my 24 I am setting up, so my Turbo will eventually be up for sale :)

Sweet skimmer - well actually all Deltecs are pretty sweet.

Well I'll keep an eye out for when you start selling stuff as i'll need some stuff for the new 120. :)

I got to say, I have a Deltec ap701 sitting in my garage (for about a year) and other than the pump, the skimmer build quality is not that impressive. I’m sure that when I hook it up the performance will be. Your 600 looks like a nicer build than mine. Nice Skimmer!

i have to agree with you though. when i first received it and unpacked it i thought the acrylic would be of a thicker caliber. i mean it doesn't feel cheap but it doesn't feel like what it costs. :) my shuran calcium reactor on the other hand is built like a tank and it feels like what it costs. it actually feels better than it costs.

i have the apf600 in my 55 gallon right now to break it in. it was simple to set up and right now it's breaking in. hopefully foam will soon follow.

i like the design of the apf600 and the height. i almost went for the ap701 though. :) but then i should've just kept going up to the largest model they sell.

Matt I have the Turbo 1060 in sump on my 230 and swear by it. I clean my cup everyday cause it has 1 1/2" skimmate in it. It well start skimming right away not much break in needed. The best!

Why are you considering getting rid of the Deltec Turbo 1250? I am considering the next larger size. Is the 1250 quiet and effective? Did you buy it locally? I have heard good things about the performance, but see post ocassionally questioning the build quality. I am trying to get as much input as possible, before making the commitment. Any other Deltec Turbo skimmer users out there?

Meitzler I posted above you that I have the turbo 1060, which is the next size bigger from the 1250. The biuld quality is really good. The thickness of the pvc or acrylic used in rhe chamber is not as thick as it could be, but have had no issues with it in over a year. The rest of the quality is excellent and the collection cup comes off with just a slight turn counter clockwise and best of all it out skims any reactor I have had hands down and that includes ER.

yeah it took only a few hours before my APF600 started skimming. so far i have about a 1/4" of gunk in the cup. it's pretty wet though so i need to turn the air down a tad, i think.
