I'm just wondering if it would reek any havoc if you had to mix water made with synthetic salt, with that made with natural to add to the tank?

I can't see why it would too much. It has all the same trace elements. I would think the only thing to watch would be a Ph swing. It may raise or lower your alk or Ca as well depending on the age of the water and type of salt you are using.

I think consistancy is the key. If you want to switch, ok, but make it a long term switch (for consistancy's sake) and make sure you know where the levels are for the new stuff (Alk, Mg, Ca, pH). You may have to adjust the levels depending on differences in contents.

What are you using now and what do you want to switch to?
