found something that looks just like this. it has lot of tiny tenticles has a clear tube, in a cluster of 20 tubes. the tube is flexible, and when i touched it, it retreated in. What do you guys think this is.
this is not the actual picture, i dont have a camera that takes good pics. the tube has light and darker tan bands, the tentacles or fan, is a very light yellow, or tan, not white like my feathers. I does look like the yellow polyp, only thing is i killed a small colony of them thinking they might be apstasia, now all that is left is just the tube, no tentacles hanging around anymore. Its almost like a feather, but these do not have a fan shape, they are all the way around like in the picture. I still have about 2 other colonys that are still alive and seem to be growing in size and length by the day. right now, they are only about 5mm around, and the tube is 2cm long.
If it were the yellow polyp, would the whole thing shrink if touched?

that looks like colonial hydroids if they look like the picture (it could be just a different type of feather duster :) ) .
i got that in my tank, they're a pain and they can sting other corals, i've read of people using kalk paste i believe but i haven't used that method yet :p .
what i did with some of mine, i used the torch, took the rock out and blow them :p , it worked but don't go doing this around corals .
I also tried picking them ( it's a little bit of a pain in the butt but if you got the patience then you can do it :p :) )
so hopefullly someone can give you a better idea dood

Hydroids. I've got a couple patches that I haven't done anything with yet. I used kalk paste on a single one a few months back and it seemed to make it go away. I haven't gotten around to trying it out on one of my patches though to confirm if it works for sure. One of these days...

A third yes on hydroids and a third on kalk paste. You have to bury them in it but it works

Zoanthids :D But I would not jump to para's as there are some un- ID "Yellow Polys", which these are. I'll do some searching for species.

Zoanthids and Hydroids do not have rigid tubes that the head retracts into.

Nope, I take that back photosynthetic active Myrionema sp , which are greenish instead of the more normal brownish.

True but they can retract to a degree and flexible does not have to mean rigid. There are no dusters that have "clear" tubes. It also does not have duster "arms/ tenticles". There are Myrionema sp hydroids that look just like his in my books with the green/yellow hue. Duster do not have green tubes with the animals being green also.
