I've had this clam for almost 20 months and he has grown alot, But a few months ago he did this for a day or two and then was compleately nomal. I recently changed the light and know it is not that. Last night I added Kent Marine "liquid Reactor". I'm wondering if it is a reaction to this. He looked like this for several hours and now he looks fine. I know my carbon is overdue,so I'm changing it now. Has anyone ever seen this come and go like this.

did you change anything mine is doing that for last 3 days
The majority of people felt that it was a lighting issue. I've since got T5s. I don't no if that was the problem or not, or even if it was a problem. He did this same thing 5 months ago for a couple days and didn't do it again till recently. I know one thing, my mag and ca. have been very low. I only just started testing for it. I got perameters good now. All I can do is wait and see.

mines beed doing it for about 4 to 5 days now. Was his intake siphone wide open? I really dont want to lose him my calcium is 450 tested yesterday mag. dont know dont have a test kit might want to get one.

yes you need a mag and a alk test kit, they are vital tools in keeping clams. in the pic you posted on rc the clam looked ok just retracting it's mantle a little. can you post a clearer pic of the clam?
