Why don't you want fully cured live rock for a start, that would certainly help cycle the new system?
Just a thought

I was planning on using mainly base rock and just a small amount of live to seed it. This tank wont be up and running for a good year so I am not sure what I would do with the live rock in the mean time.

Thanks LostCreek Reefer, Scooter and Kamar, I am glad to know that lots of my corals went to good homes and i'll be able to see how they do over time.

it was nice to meet you Bennettp. i hope you find lots on cool things on that liverock. it was nice to help get you a start in the hobbie.

i still have lots of corals left, frog spawn, hammer, and torch. as well as trumpet corals and other LPS. i have a few Acro and Monti corals too.

after i sell off the rest of the livestock i will start on the liverock and live sand, then the fish. although a lot of them are spoken for.

thanks again.........

Thanks so much Rob! I just got everything put in the tank and aquascaped and I couldn't be happier. Im sure I will probably be making another trip up there the next time I get a paycheck :)

Hey Rob- Well it was good to see you all, Rob (& Family) Scooter and Kamar, and it was good to meet you Bennettp; sort of like having a meeting, just the reason was not quite right :eek:hwell:. Sorry to see you doing this, Rob, but at the same time, thanks! You tank still is amazing to me, but I totally understand the clavicle limitations...been there done that got the plate & scar! All of the corals made the trip, looked more normal this morning, the Torches & Frog Spawn were all out & ~75% extended, so not bad for less than 24 hours! Looking forward to the fish, let me know when you want to do that. I know you have LOTS of live rock, have you considered talking to Dan at Reef Missoula to see if he could use some? just a thought. What kind of forceps was that long carmalt-esque thing? I'd love to get one (and what the heck do they use it for :noidea: ???) Take care & we'll be in touch. KevinD

i'm glad everything made the trip okay. thanks again for coming up on short notice. i hope you got some things that will make you happy. i need to figure out what i'm going to do with the LR, thanks for the suggestion. i really would like $ rather than store credit, so that may be an issue. i have 2 more weekends before my surgery so i'm hoping to be catching fish either this coming weekend or Oct 1st or 2nd.

as far as those forceps- think GYN...... it's good to be a guy :)

Amen to being a guy....the longest forceps that I can from my supplier find are 8", not 2-1/2 feet like yours...any suggestions for suppliers (or do you see disposables?).

The short notice was no problem, especially with your time-line, I totally understand. The corals are very nice, I am totally happy, thanks so much!

You let me know about your timing for the fish. I will be there to help get rock out or how ever you want to do things.

My tank looks more beautiful than ever today! Thanks again Rob. Also I would be very interested in your blood shrimp, lawnmower or red scooter blenny, the flame angel, the fairy wrasse, or an anthia and a good clean up crew. Let me know if any of these are still available. I'm also interested in your water storage tank, one of the 100 gallon rubbermaid stock tanks, more live rock, and possibly the lighting that was over your frag tank. Thanks!

Hi Rob,
Sorry to hear you have decided to get out of the hobby. I wish all the best for you. Please stop by anyway to say hello when you come this way. You and Julie are always welcome to come hang out.

Regards,
Kevin

Hi Rob . . . yes, I am so sorry that you're getting out of the saltwater hobby. Your tank was amazing the first time I saw it, and still is. I do admire your decision to get out now while everything is still doing good and healthy, and to find your pets new homes. It's hard to decide when enough is enough - I admire your resolve. Thank you so much for the favia. I really liked it the first time I saw it, and can't believe it's mine now. I was hoping to get one someday like it. It settled in nicely, and I think it will do fine as my tank seems to favor LPS.

(I wanted to put this post up Monday night, but my internet connection went fooey on me. Had the ISP come out today, and fixed something in the phone box, so I'm back up and running now. Whew. Never knew how much I used it to look stuff up.)

Here's the coral I got from Rob:

You know that you can't leave the club, tank or not! :biggrin1: I'm still thinking about the pretty lavender plating coral that you've got some chunks of, and I've always wanted a neon hammer. Hmm . . let me know if you still have them.

Thanks again Rob.

I left a voice mail at your house Rob. Let me know if your interested in selling any more stuff. Thanks.

I think I just bought your raspberry chalice, that is sure what it looks like. Is that correct? I just like to know the common names too.

did you get the round one or more rectangular one? i just called it a pink chalice. raspberry sound nice though :)

Dan seems like a fair guy. he was good to Julie and I.

besides, if you like it and can keep it alive, it was work it. i had the coral about 18" below water line. if you put it to deep it will turn a darker red and doesn't grow as fast. the pinkish spots came out when i moved it up in my tank. remember it's not a high light coral. it will burn if you get it to close to the surface.

Thank you for the tips. I have it 4" below the water line, but I am only running 48watts of 50/50 PC lighting. The thing is super hot pink in my tank and looks amazing. The edges have a bit of skeleton showing but it was like that in Dan's tank. I acclimated it and then used CoralRx and dipped it for 10mins. I am hoping it recovers nicely. I will be upgrading to LEDs hopefully in the next week or so. I will add a full tank shot later tonight, but man it is hard to get the color correct on this coral, it just POPS.
