January 2013 Club Meeting: Frag Workshop
January 19th from 1:00-4:00 PM

522 Northeast 165th Street
Shoreline, WA 98155
(206) 417-2772

The January meeting will be a workshop on coral fragging. Rob at Red C Aquarium has offered to host the event and give us some tips on fragging and what professionals in the industry look for when customers bring in their recently fragged corals.

This is an annual event scheduled to inform members on the latest techniques and technology in coral propagation. It also doubles as the perfect time to prepare our club's growing coral collection for the biggest club event of the year:
The Bob Moore Frag Swap!
We will be preparing all of the corals donated by sponsors and club members to be raffled off and given away as door prizes for the February event. So, we will be bringing the club's corals to the shop that day. You're welcome to bring your own if you have something you want cut up, but have never had access to a proper coral band-saw.

Disclaimer: Many PSAS events are instructional in nature, but we are NOT certified electricians, plumbers, or experts in marine biology. Please consult a qualified electrician before doing electrical work on your house and tanks. Your safety and the health of your aquarium inhabitants is our primary concern. All events are subject to a change in time or in location in the event of extenuating circumstances. We will do our very best to update the site to reflect any changes in venue or time.

Today is the 12th. The meeting is next Saturday. If you saw the wrong date somewhere please let me know so I can correct it. Thanks. Looking forward to seeing everyone next week.

Thanks to everyone that could make it out today! It was a fun meeting. I'm sorry we couldn't hear more from Rob. It would have been good to get his input on fragging and his side of the business, but we can all see from the store that he's been incredibly busy. He had a lot of customers to help out today, and his first priority is taking care of them.

If you couldn't make it out today, I really encourage you to stop by the store. Rob has a lot of experience to share and he's expanding his water volume daily it seems.

The first thing you see when you come in the store is a half-cylinder tank. Maybe 150g? It's a beautiful system and a little hard to capture on film with the glare.

The refugium for the front display is right behind it. Here's a couple shots of the seahorse that calls the refugium home.

There's a series of tanks by the front that hold the coral frags and colonies.

A good sized fresh-water section that is still being put together. The island is a little newer. The tanks along the wall are more established.

The other side of the store is stocked with tanks ready to be sold and a large wall with spacious tanks for the salt-water fish.

It was a fun meeting. Met some new friends.
Robs shop is really shaping up. Takes some time, but its going to be a really cool shop.

Great photo shoot, thanks for sharing. Looked like a lot of fun! (I was attending a show in Seattle) On a side note, Rob is a great guy who spends too much time helping those in need, often putting his own business second. His store warrants all the support we can muster!

Jacob thank you for being so prepared , your frag station was awesome!!

I thought I could get busy during the meeting and then it happened.

It was great seeing some new faces!!!!

Agreed! I hope people on the South end will consider making his shop a regular stop on your tour of stores. There's not much down here anymore, so we have to head north anyway. Defiantly worth checking out, and let Rob know you're coming from south of the boarder.

Thanks for stopping by the meeting and introducing yourself Javier and Stephanie. Defiantly put next month's meeting on your calendar. It's our biggest meeting of the year and we've been planning it since last September.

Even though I don't have a saltwater tank just quiet yet, this would of been nice to go to. Lack of sleep and an over saturation of college left me too tired to go and stop by the store. regardless I always enjoy stopping by and checking out the store to see all the new fish corals and that huge pacu.

That pacu is huge, isnt it! The arowana is beautiful too.
You dont have to have a tank to come to the meetings. Its a great place to meet everyone and learn more before you start. And find eqiupment to start with.
You dont need to buy anything at the Bob Moore frag swap. Stop in and meet us and the sponsors/vendors. They're a bunch of great people.

If I have the time to go I will, college and work tend to soak up my time. I know I can pull off the future to be 7.5 rimless reef, just a matter of time for things to fall into place before I can pull the trigger. I have a shrimp tank that I plan to wait and slowly sell off shrimp to cover the cost of the new tank. There is always things to learn, hence my countless hours between classes looking at random fish things and over complicated fish theory (aka opinions).

Is there a set location? from the brief searching around can't seem to pinpoint were the meeting is at.
