Frag & Equipment Swap! :flame::flame::flame::flame::flame::flame:

Saturday, August 18, 3PM at Michael & Angie's home in North Spokane
All are welcome - kids, family, relatives - anyone who loves saltwater!
(you do not need to be an official club member to attend, although being a club member gets you into the raffles)

Additional details on event, location, and raffle items can be found at Spokane Coeur d Alene Reef Society » Inland Northwest reefers dedicated to education through experience in the reefkeeping hobby.
Featuring :humble:

« Door prizes – dry and live goods donated by Zoo Med Laboratories, Blue Life USA, and club members

« Raffles – frag packs, ORA frags, and much more donated by club members, Barrier Reef Aquariums, and Coral Props

« Silent auctions of live and dry goods featuring a Bali Sun Metal Halide reflector donated by Hamilton Technologies (valued at $130)

(Event Sponsors: Barrier Reef Aquariums, Blue Life USA, CoralProps, Hamilton Technology, Zoo Med Laboratories)

Are you ready to pile everything we love about reef club meetings into one fun packed afternoon? We are!! Plans are near final, and it is time to start volunteering to bring potluck items, browse raffles, plan on which frags and equipment you are bringing to the swap. Ohhhh - and don't forget to blackout your calendar!

This year to make things more interesting we've invited two very special vendors to attend the event in person: Barrier Reef Aquariums (Saltwater aquariums, supplies, servicing, reef fish and corals - Barrier Reef Aquariums) and CoralProps (CoralProps - Shop Home). Each will be on site ready to show us their livestock, talk reefs, and swap stories!

Please follow the following links to view potluck items, raffles, silent auctions, and member swaps! :plane: :plane:

In the past, this has been a really fun event, bringing 50-60 people together! Let's make it even bigger this year! We're excited to have 2 of our wonderful sponsors in attendance, with CoralProps and Barrier Reef! Let's show both of these sponsors that it's worth their time to attend!

I've already got the "community tank" set up, to house member corals for the frag swap! Well, it isn't completely set up yet, but it's almost there...

Ohh, and on the out of town note, if anyone needs a hotel room, you can feel free to stay at the Oxford Suites downtown under my corporate rate ($99/night for a single king) - there are cheaper places in town, and lots of campsites if you are the outdoorsy type, but the downtown hotels are technically the closest to Michael & Angies :)

Here's info on how to book it - Lodging » Strategic Research Associates

Me, wife, and baby Ally will be there. Can't wait!

Cy, I sent you a PM, inquiring if there's anything you're going to specifically need the club to provide you, for your tank. We do have a 40 breeder and stand, no light, available (unless you wanna bring over 6 T5 bulbs...lol). Please let us know if you need saltwater available and how much!

Thanks!

Between Joanne, Charlie and myself, today, and some communications with Cy (Barrier Reef) and Henk (CoralProps), we got a lot of logistics worked out today! We're going to have at least 4 tanks set up Saturday!!

For those of you who have attended, in the past, you remember the great raffle items and door prize items that've been available. This year is going to blow the past two years away! We're going to have some AMAZING prizes available, from many of our wonderful sponsors! Be prepared to buy lots of raffle tickets!

Let's break our attendance record! 2010 we had approximately 50-55, 2011 we had about 60. Let's shoot for 70 this year!!

We still don't have much of a list of food that members are bringing. If at all possible, please post up if you're bringing food and if so, an idea of what you're bringing.

Also, as usual, this is a family event. If there's enough interest, I'll set up Madison's pool for the kiddos. Let me know and bring swim suits and towels!

Jeremy and I will be there with our kids, we will bring something to potluck, still to be determined :) I will post to that link when we decide.

Glad to hear! How old are your kids and how many? Would they want to swim? I'm trying to decide if I'm going to have Madison's pool set up or not.[/

We have 3 kiddos, 9, 2 and 5 weeks. They would love to swim, well, the older two anyways ;)

Our 3rd Annual BBQ/Frag Swap is successfully in the books! We had about 35-40 people in attendance, plus a lot of children (Madison's inflatable pool is still holding air!). So, less in attendance than in the past couple of years but a whole lot of new faces, which is exciting! Ed Hahn and his wife, from the Tri-Cities club and Charlie, from the Montana club joined us, as well!

This year, we had Barrier Reef and CoralProps on site as well, which was awesome!

Cy (Barrier Reef), Henk (CoralProps), thank you both for your wonderful support and willingness to put a lot of effort into attending this event! It was great to have both of you here!

WOW did we have a PILE of raffle and door prize items! All total, 4 tanks full of wonderful goodies! Clams, Zoanthids, some great Acans and Chalices, a great Fox Coral that I think someone beat me to! ORA Corals, Barrier Reef Gift Certificates, Tyree Corals, tons of frags from members and sponsors!

We had A TON of GREAT FOOD, from burgers and dogs to Cookie Salad (thanks Shelly, it was so good!) to home made Brownies (Kevin, those were sure gone fast!) to Ben's famous Kabobs, this time in pork, Ben you out did yourself this time! and Allen's "homemade" pies! plus too many other foods to remember! Thank you ALL for bringing food, tables, etc!

I hope everyone else had as much fun as I did!

Thank you all for your hard work and help in pulling this off, yet again! Joanne, thank you for all of your organization and tending to all of the tanks and raffle items. Chelsea, thank you for your work as the "name tag enforcer!"

To all of our SPCDA Reef members, existing, new and future members who we met for the first time yesterday, thank you so much. We've got a great club and it's growing!

Oh, there will be some pictures posted soon!

Here's some pics! Hopefully, Charlie, who was also taking pictures, will get some posted soon. Right now, he's on his way home.

Speaking of Charlie, I'll start off with him!
