I ordered 5 soft corals from Leroy yesterday, its the second time i have ordered from him. First time i got 9lbs of grunge for the fuge and he threw in two coral frags (turned out to be three shhhhh...) two different color frags of star polyps and a orange goragon that seems to be doing ok but is not showing the fast growth of the stars.

The new order came in today, inside he threw in 2 more lbs of grunge (in the main tank) and two more corals. Some of the frags are really quite big, i will post pics of them once they open up, one of the Zoas is already open but the rest is still pretty shy.

Does anyone else here order from Garf? Anyone been there in person?

everything is still hiding and quite frankly i am a babe in the woods when it comes to corals still. There is alot to learn.
But going through the bags -lol-
here is what my shipment contained:
"woods polyp"
encrusting gorgoinan
protoallython+bpcx xenia ??
super green briareum+ stars eyes
and a bag of "high grade zoanthids"

everything is still in alot of shock, so we will see what comes out of this. i am going to start running searches to try to figure out what is what.

ok, having a few rough die off problems with some of the frags, others are doing well.
the woods polyps are jumping off their super glued rock and god knows what they are doing, between you and me it looks like they are croaking which is odd because they look so healthy up to the point where they detach... maybe this is just how they roll.

big shocker is how fast the BPCX (beautiful pink creeping xenia) grows, this coral is going totally nuts in my tank, the frag has easily trippled in size in the last week ( i cannot make this up...) and more than trippled in the ammount of heads it is sprouting, i suspect that i will have to fend it off with a chain saw and a boom stick here in a few months. its base has almost totally covered the fat fingered super glue "blob" that i mounted it with. This guy grows like a weed and has some pretty cool antics. It writhes around and retracts/extends on a whim. Very cool coral and a very cool suprise, i had pretty dim feelings about it in the start.

Hello,

Question.... When Xenia or stuff like that wilts, can it come back or should you remove it from the tank. Can its dying or decomposing hurt the tank water and/or inhabitants?

Bob

Bob, check your water parameters.... using RO/DI? what salt? ph? cal? alk? tell us about your water chemistry... usually when they wilt as you have mentioned... you need to remove them...

My Pom-pom Xenia completely melted away, gone, no trace; then a couple of months later came roaring back. I've now got two large colonies of it.
