I just bought a pair of Jebao RW-8 for 120gal 4X2X2 to replace two of my old Koralia Magnum 7. Taking out from the box the Jebao RW-8 is a lot smaller compare to the Magnum 7. It’s about the size of the Koralia nano 425. With a small size I would have to say WOW, it can move a lot of volume. I can move more volume of water a wider spread than my old Magnum 7. The Jebao come with a controller that can communicate with another 3 controller wirelessly. You can set 1 with master and the other as slave and it can communicate with each other. I started out with a W1 mode (which is a wave mode), with running at 50% of the power and it can make a wave as big as 1 inch with the power head 4” below the water. I tried it for a while and decide to try the W2 mode (which is a sine mode) I was only able to run 50% of the power and can see my sand start to blow around a little bit. I finally settle with a C mode (which is the toggle mode between 2 powerhead, 1 on – 2 off, 2 on – 1 off). It also has H mode which is run continuously. My favorite mode is the Else mode, this mode is a random mode. It randomly run at any of the above mode. The drawback from this mode is that you cannot control the intensity of the powerhead. It can ramp up to 100% blew everything a way.
Jebao controller also has a feeding mode. If you press down the feed mode button all powerhead shutdown for 10 minute. Of course you can turn off the feed mode anytime by pressing the button again.
One more cool thing about Jebao is it come with light sensor that can be uses with a night mode. If you turn on the night mode, once light is out the powerhead reduce to the lowest speed and run with an H mode.
So my current setup is 80% of the power of C mode with night mode turn on. It’s been running for 3 days. So far I’m very happy with the result. Oh one more thing, this thing is dead silent very quiet.
