Calibrate your Ph monitor. Ever hear of kalkwasser???? How much do you evap. each day?

Yes I have seen these quite a few times, I will have to do some more research on them.
I will have to borrow Devon's Ph monitor again to get an accurate reading. Before the skimmer I was evaporating around a quart a day.
OK, Get the monitor reading when you can. I would think with a little bit of a kalk drip you could raise and maintain the Ph.

A day and a half of skimming....

You will get it dialed in, looks a bit wet to me, but it will come with time as to how you want to skim, wet or dry.

Thanks charlie, I will adjust it a bit.
You pull more out skimming wet Kelan, but the trade off is more top off. How are you doing with the Ph thing?

Still need to grab the ph meter from Devon but he is out of town for the weekend. I also need to grab a hose for my skimmer air inlet because for some reason it is obnoxiously loud, so I would like to move the inlet somewhat away from the tank.
What test kit are you using for the Ph Kelan?

I have the API tests but I will get the meter. Just tested the PH with the liquid test kit since the window has been open all day and there is a definite difference in color.
I take it that is a good thing?

OK, I have never used a test kit for Ph so I didn't know.
That sounds great! Summertime seems to work best for meetings around here, so maybe sometime soon. Yes, I agree!

Took the skimmer off a few days ago. It stopped pulling skimmate for a week straight and all it was doing was making microbubbles in the main display and noise.
Tests:
SG 1.025
Alk 8.2
Cal 420
Mag 1320
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5
Phos 0
I have been slacking on water changes, I will do another gallon today.

That is strange about the skimmer, but maybe you only gotta run in every couple of weeks???? Never heard of that. Maybe just an adjustment on the skimmer Kelan???

I haven't ever had nirtrates or phosphates until I started slacking on water changes with the skimmer. I don't think my tank has much organics to pull out, does that make sense?
To be honest, I hadn't heard of nitrates or phosphates, until I started in this hobby. I never test for em................................... oops.
I think you may find that you will have to run the skimmer maybe once a week for a while, I don't know, play with it.
