Very few updates, but I will share what we have so far. We just have a frame built. No maple veneer or laminate top or anything on it yet . . . I know what I want, but just haven't gotten that far. We bought a plunge router this weekend to do the cabinet doors when it comes time. We still have to buy a table saw to do the veneer. Think it's going to be sturdy enough??

I think it will hold for a while. What year were you planning the earthquake your tank is gonna make it thru?

He does good work, does he not? I cannot wait to see the finished product.............................. and the tank too ;).

Ah yeah, dunno about the house, but I think that stand will make it through a quake alright. Yes, he does do very good work! You and me both, Charlie. (waiting . . . :boink:)

I think waiting just allows me to change my mind on things and find better stuff . . . which may or may not be a good thing! Actually I know that reef tanks are very long term projects, so the waiting really isn't making me too crazy. I keep finding the fish and corals I want though, so I really would like to get going on this!!!

Waiting is good and bad Kim, you know that. If you can make improvements if the planning nuthin beats that. I still bet it will be going before the end of the year and then you will just have to cook for us again ;).

Ok, here are some long overdue updates. We're still working on the stand as we've had to buy most of the tools needed to make it - table saw and a couple of hand sanders are the latest. This is Mark's first piece of furniture all on his own, and he's really making an effort to make it nice. I think it's looking gorgeous! I can't wait to stain it now and get the laminate on. We set the 40g sump in there for perspective.

Using the new router.

With the sump in the bottom.

All trimmed out, and with a top.

This is going to be beautiful when stained! I love the grain.

We started working on the doors tonight. I gotta go pick out some hardware now.

Meanwhile, the 36 is doing great. The mystery acro that Charlie had identified for me is making a comeback. It looked like the "encrusting acro" for forever, and now it's sending up a bunch of new branches. The fish all have beautiful color and the leathers are enormous. I will get some pics up here soon of it.

Hey Kim......................... He does nice work doesn't he? That is really going to look nice when you get it done. What would be the chances of me stopping by say ....................... next Monday, the 10th, in the afternoon. I have an appt with the accountant that day at around 10 so I will be in town anyways. I would love to see the 36 and this build :).

Looks like someone needs to start a new build thread... Things are looking great and I hope to see updates of the progress soon!

Yes, I was thinking the same exact thing. I was holding off on a new thread until I got the cabinet just about finished. We're close! Sure, come on over Charlie, anytime after 1:00. Bring your pictures that you were going to show me too. I have more Vegas pics for you too.

In the spirit of FTS day, here's a picture from today, plus a few more . . . I swapped an ATI Blue Plus for a Purple Plus at light bulb change time - not sure I like it yet. I kinda miss my bluer look, but it really picks up anything in that spectrum. The angel looks much more red.
