I ran across a product by KORALLIN called AZ-NO3 nitrate and disolved organics exporter. it claims it can bring down and maintains nitrait from as high as 100ppm to an absolute zero level. says it works with an efficent protien skimmer to export the bonded nitrate compounds. Also dramatically enhances the efficency of your protien skimmer in the removal of other detramental disolved organics.

There is also po4 minus phosphate exporter
says as follows: Together with your protien skimmer, this product provides efficent export and dramatic reduction of pohsphate(po4) in marine fish and reef aquariums. it simply turns your skimmer into a po4 exporter. Under optimun conditions,PO4 minus brings down your systems po4 level from as high as 3ppm to 0.5ppm in 24 hours

does any body know anything about these products i found them in a Marine Depot catalog.

I have a almost full bottle of AZ-NO3. It made my skimmer go beserk, then once it had made a nice mess and I had adjusted it down, it wouldnt make any skim, then turn it back up, and another mess. I followed the directions, noticed no reduction in nitrates but I did not use it for as long as they recomened. It may be a wonderful product, my experiences were less than stellar. I was just trying to take my nitrates from 5 to 0. I think since my corals are growing and all of my stuff is alive and growing I will just deal with a detectable level of nitrates, and it is totally my fault anyway, I am the one that wants a moray eel in a reef. LOL I never tried the po4 stuff, I am going to try ROWAPHOS as I have a level of .1ppm phos. in my tank by sailfert. I am fixing to upgrade my skimmer so I think that will solve most of my problems. That is only my experince with the product, you may have a totally different one. HTH Steve

Some additives may be occasionally necessary. However, I would not suggest an additive like that. If you are having a nitrate problem, I would suggest more LR and/or less fish. Additives can be problematical. There is always some company trying to sell snake oil. I personally try to avoid additives unless there is no other alternative. That is just my personal opinion but it does work for me...Collin
