That is one of the great things about live rock. It has the ability to shed detritus through bacterial turgor. You just want to keep up with it, and you'll probably notice after you've been BB for sometime that the shedding lessens. I've removed a bunch of LR from my tank (to cook), and the rock that remains is shedding like mad. These were pieces from my sump and fuge, so they must have been doing some heavy processing, or the lack of flow in the sump caused them to accumulate too much detritus. Keep ontop of your water parameters, and let's see what happens with the algae. RO/DI is definately going to be beneficial....I don't think we can get away with tap water in Indy.
