My brother down in Oregon has a 54 corner tank that has developed a very slight leak at the lower seam (drip). He is going to tear everything down and look for a new 54 tank, but is he out of luck or can he have that tank re-sealed?

Its not that difficult to reseal a glass tank yourself. You just scrape out all the old silicone and replace it. I resealed my 130g, that I just sold, when I got it. It wasn't known to leak but it was a 20+ yr old tank and it had been a while since the silicone had been replaced. I figured it was easier before I set it up than wishing I had done it later.

i just got done resealing my 55 last weekend. just clean everything really well. after you put the bead of GE silicone1 on,make sure to dip a finger in some rubbing alcohol and smooth it into the crease. lowes, home depot all those carry the silicone for around $3. It'd be a whole lot cheaper than buying a new tank. shoot me a pm if you
have any questions. :)
