Don, i added some glue around the joint and heated it w/ the hairdryer..it did the trick!!! Thanks for the heating idea!!!

i just put a few wraps of teflon tape around the threads of the union..it doesn't leak anymore either

Woo Hoo!! Good job! I just wish i had seen this thread before I broke down my tank because of leaks!:(

when i run my pvc, pipeing do you guys think i should use treaded or glued, or combo

i will probly use small peaces of hose for quick dissconectes

Wow, guess I'm confused as I just thought an extended leak test was just part of plumbing a tank. When I first plumbed my 120 gallon tank I put regular tap water in it and let it run for a week. Any places I noticed a small leak I marked with a black marker. If it was a big leak which I had one around a pump then I fixed it immediately. After a week I fixed the one or two small drips I had and then leak tested for another week until I did not notice any leaks for a week. I knew once I put the tank in place it would be almost impossible to fix some of the leaks if they occured.

I mainly used slip and was happy I did as most of the leaks I discovered were around areas that had threads such as pump intakes, etc.

Small pieces of hose? I'd use unions for this purpose. Make sure to really think your plumbing through on items such as maintenance and if you ever have to move your tank how many pieces and how easy will it to be to move the tank and plumbing. I used unions and ball valves in many many places as if you need to remove a part you don't want your tank draining on the floor.

i put ball valves directly under all the bulkheads..this way if i need to remove ant plumbing, i can just turn off the water flow and fix it!!!

ya,

trust me you guys (when the time is right) will love my setup, it will be super simple but with the

"fourm fallow's funtion" attatude.

yeah, I used true union ball valves in several places so i could shut off the flow and then remove that piece of needed. They were expensive though but saved my butt a few times in maintenance.

you mean Form Follows Function?

Personally, I'd make it easy to do maintenance items and easy to move and with as few elbows as possible. I used spa-flex pvc in my closed loop design and it really helped with flow.

i finally found those unions the other day after i had already finished my plumbing..i wish i had seen them earlier
