H3RO, I do not mind the limited selection, it easy to see you guys are cramped, but I have "special ordered" from Midway in the past and it didn't go well to say the least.

I did not want to or even try to bargain, heck I wasn't even the one buying the fish, I was just trying to help out another customer. Midway was selling a fish listed as Super Larger (or something like that) at the price of a Super Large specimen, but the fish was not Super Large, it was a 5 inch Blue Hippo Tang. I tried to point that out, but was rudely rebuffed. Honestly though, it wasn't cool of me to get into specific incidents like this so I apologize.

Also, if you are going to promote a store like you did in your first post to this thread, you should indicate that you are employed there.

Justin, I haven't written Midway off and I will continue to stop in from time to time, I'm glad to hear you guys are making changes. In fact, I really hope you guys do get better since you are so convenient for me. If you want, I'll gladly PM you some of the concerns/frustrations I've had at Midway. This thread is not the proper place for those issues to be brought out to the open. For now I will stick by my assessment that I've received very bad service at Midway and leave it at that.

i was just defending my store and bruce sterburg owns pet gallery and him or maybe his son owns it now, i think his name is jonace... they are in the same chain tho. as for advertising well see what i can get the management to do, but i was defending my store not promoting it... but what kind of fish society say you cant let ppl know bout your store cause your not a sponsor... i bought rock from saltwater city today, its covered with mushrooms, i like saltwater city and blue seirra ;)

Yes Achilles, i would really appreciate you to PM some concerns you have had. I would love to get actual concerns instead of people just saying whats wrong while in the store.

Thanks

Ok may.be I didnt explain it very well H3RO/Justin. The concept of this thread was to form a list of LFS and rate them. I do not care if you are the best LFS in the world and bend over backwards for everyone, THIER will be folks that dont like your store...simple as that. The pros and cons of your store and others will work out in the raing of your store. Turning this thread into a I did/they did will only turn this thread into one large arguement that will never end and not do anyone any good. As part of the user agreement no one is allowed to make commercial posts, H3RO you have, thus the warning.
but what kind of fish society say you cant let ppl know bout your store cause your not a sponsor
No one is stoping you from letting people know about your store. I beleive you have done that on most posts you have made. However, because we have sponsers that pay to advertize on this board, we must protect them (as we would you if you were one). and we can not allow you to post pricing and so on. The concept of this board is to help folks in researching and learning about this hobby and shareing thier experences. We will not allow meaningless arguements or flames.
I hope you will continue with us on the board, but it must be done according to the user agreement.

thanks

Mike

Very well said Mike.

Ok, let's try to get this back on track and make this thread what it was intended. For people like me, new to the area, a listing would be very helpful.

These are the stores I know of so far.

Below Sea Level

Blue Sierra

Denny's Pet World (did they go back to selling SW?)

Fish Gallery-Kent, Renton, Factoria (where is Factoria, btw?)

The Fish Store

Midway

Salt Water City

Who am I missing? Isn't there a newer store in the Tacoma area? What about stores up north?

Up north that I know of, that sell SW as of last time I checked:

Aqua Pets - Everett

Pet-Pourri - Everett

Kelly's Puppies and Pets - Everett

Lynnwood Petco - Lynnwood

Aquarium Concepts - Seattle/Shoreline

Jones and Company in Lynnwood closed, but I would assume they moved their SW to their Marysville store. But I'm unsure about this one.

As far as I know those are the only stores up north that sell saltwater fish or inverts.

Once a list is compiled I would be willing to look up all the addresses, telephone numbers, and confirm any questionable stores if they still deal in saltwater.

Once we get a master list I think we could probably use the poll system in the forum to create the rating system that would be easiest for everyone to use. Just a new poll for each store, people can vote and then put a simple review in a post.

Does that sound like a good idea?

Aquarium Concepts - North Seattle

Indoor Reef - Tacoma

Shark Reef - Silverdale

Aquarium Paradise - Lakewood - They have a new store that looks nice, but I haven't been by.

Uh-oh, Stang's gonna kick me one for forgetting Shark Reef :D

Gordo, I've been to Aquarium Paradise, and I think it was their new store (by the Lakewood mall right?). They have a pretty decent selection, not a whole lot in corals, but a good bit of fish. They did not have a ton of dry goods, but what they did have was a lot of the better quality products/high end products.

Denny's Pet World (did they go back to selling SW?) yes about a month ago, haven't seen it though

(where is Factoria, btw?)
it's that shopping area/center where 405 & 90 meet

it's actually in loehmans plaza there

I think it was their old store that was close to the mall. The new store is right off of I-5 at Bridgeport Way.
