lighting question

I would do the minis scoot. my lights are about 12 inches off the surface and with the open top i dont get too much heat transfer. a canopy would change things though. i would add fans

Thanks for the info! My stand/hood is very large, space isn't a problem, 32" Deep by 4' 6" wide & 18" from the top of the tank. I can do either type with room but If the Mini's are that good then I will go with that to allow more room for digging in the tank, I plan on using two 250W reeflux lamps.
