These seem to be Majano and Aiptasia eating machines from what we have read and what Michael (returnofsid) is saying. We have a fair amount of both and have tried berghia twice, aiptasia x, kalk, injecting with boiling water and injecting with lemon juice with little to no success. Even if any of these methods did work there are many that are in places we can't reach. Can you guys get one in for us? If so what would be the cost?

TIA

Eric & Becca

Specifically, you'll need the right species, as several Filefish are referred to with the same common names. Acreichthys tomentosus is the one you're wanting. No guarantees that it won't go after Zoanthids, but so far, mine has been a model citizen and is doing a great job ridding my tank of Majanos.

Yes we can but its going to be a couple weeks. We just sold our last one. I'll put you down on our list and let you know when it arrives:)

Thanks Cy. Are they the specific species that Michael mentions above?

Very cool to have regardless of job at hand

These fish are totally cool even if they show disinterest at first. They're like a chameleon and change dramaticaly as they swim from sand (pale green/gold) zone to rock zone (heavy mottling brown/gold/cream/black) and opal eyes that focus like puffer fish! I think I snatched the last one at BR. So far it eats everything provided...still in training to nibble rocks for marjano+aptasia) but he hasn't touched zoas yet either, Maybe to well fed to bother with job at hand LOL.

Yes emphasis on training :) I got one and it ate only acropora polyps and ignored my aiptasia and mojanos. I brought it back but i'm definitely going to try again, but starting out in the sump this time with some aiptasia covered rocks. Highly interesting little fish to watch!

What time on Tuesday? If they are the right species we will come get one right away if you can hold it for us. The best looking most healthy one would be preferred... :D

I got one of these little guys a about 2 weeks ago and it has to be the shy-est fish i have ever had. i ve seen him pick at Aiptasia for sure. I dont have manjo or many zoathinds to worry about so i cant comment on that but hopefully he will get a bit more bravery soon.

They are currently acclimating. I can't tell for sure if they are the same as the photo posted above but its the same species we always receive. People who have purchased them have reported success.

Hey Cy, could you please put one of them on hold for me as well. I will be down your way tomorrow afernoon.

I'll call the store to confirm availability/hold status

TIA, Todd

Great. We will be in a little later this afternoon. probably between 4 and 6.

The photo is of a "Aptasia File" fish that I purchased from BarrierReef in early May. I must feed to well as I haven't notice missing Marjano, but he does appear to be hunting the crevices for something. It's a unique fish that my son loves most.

Hey Todd,

I didn't see this until after I got home. I'll put one on hold for you first thing in the AM. They all look great!

Ours is all acclimated and at home in it's QT. Nice looking fish. Thanks again BRA.

I just thought I would update this thread so if anyone was wondering... This file fish has been moved to the main DT for about 2 weeks now and it doing it's job well. Majano's are disappearing left and right. Thank you again Cy & Tim and the rest of the gang for another great fish.
