Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

My tank is chugging along these days. No pictures today...just verbage (gar-bahge?). I received a SpectraPure LiterMeter3 pump n the UPS leavings today, I am going to automate my water changes. :whoo:

I am working on a dosing station to run the 2 part solutions for the tank also (I am getting older AND lazier!) :whoo::whoo:

Dan has my 4 tube T-5 light fixture for my frag tank which should be up & running this weekend, so I'm hoping to do a major trimming of the corals in my tank...never thought I'd be doing THAT!

I will get some pictures soon once the pipes and wires and all that stuff happens.

I did a cleaning of the 4 Tunze powerheads in the tank last night. At the last meeting at Charlie's place I was talking to Rob as we worked on the Sea Swirls about the Tunze pumps. He suggested removing some of the plastic in the guards...so I mutilated them last night, and between cleaning & removing every other bar in the pump enclosure, there is a noticable increase in the flow (more than before) which is always a good thing. The fish looked a bit put out last night. :noidea: Adapt or die!

After a period of doing other thngs, I took advantage of the outside downpour tonight to resume working on the water & dosing station projects. I got all of the PVC pipe & brackets painted about a month ago, hung them up tonight & ran 6 of the 1/4" tubes through the pipe which will accomodate water in & out, Alk, Ca, Mg & Kalk (if I want to try it with a dosing pump). Now it's time for some wiring & another holding tank for mixed salt water!

Hi Rob...for the auto-water changes I'll be using the Spectrapure LiterMeter III & slave pump for in/out of salt water/waste water
SPECTRAPURE LITERMETER III
don't know about how much weekly, but I think at first Ill be doing 50 gallons a week or 5days then back off when algae growth is a bit less. I did get a new clean up crew about 10 days ago..it is amazing how fast the snails & crabs go to work.
Looking great! My neck hurts though...
sorry Devon (everybody)...thought about that after I'd posted (ooops!)

to everybody, tank shots soon!
We're listening to the start of *BIG* rocks rolling around in our creek....flooding anybody???

I shot for 5% twice a week when I started my water changes. I am currently doing about 12.5 gallons Wednesday and another 12.5 gallons Sunday. I like to hit the 50 gallon mark since that's a bag of salt and very easy to mix.

Some other recent events: 1.) a bad (stoopid) dog patient at the clinic, 2.) something we've been working on in the backyard, 3.) sunshine & now the snow is *FINALLY* coming off of Mt Harding (view from our kitchen).

I am having a bit of a problem with a powerhead. Pleas look at this threat/post in the equipment forum. Thanks!

I was told in the equipment forum to go look at:
Reef Central Online Community > Sponsor Forums > Tunze How to clean a Tunze pump and what to do about a driver alarm:
How to clean a Tunze pump and what to do about a driver alarm. - Reef Central Online Community

Instructions & Pictures on what to do & everything. I have been doing a better job of keeping my Ca & Alk up, hence more precipitation in the powerhead where it gets warm from the impeller spinning....whoda thunk!

also fun today at MSO:
