HI all, not being a newbe on a site in while with so few post didn't realize I couldn't post you any pics. of my build but after and hour and 1/2 of typing adding photes I figured it out sorry

Welcome to RF!! :) You should be able to post pictures. There isn't a post requirement to meet in order to do it. We just upgraded the site yesterday and just came back online last night so there are a few things that need to be sorted out. Not sure if the attachment option is working yet, but you could always use ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting to host your pictures and just add the forum link here in your post. :)

no problem I know one of your mods here and had jumped over here to see if I couldn't help getting some new post going

Yea we put that in because we were getting some spanner bots that were joining up and then puting up attachments that were like 3 pages deep. I think 10 might be a little to many though so I am going to change it to 3 today, you should be fine then.

Oh and welcome to Reef Frontiers!!

ok going to try it again I've been doing salt water tanks since the time when a wet/dry was latest and greatest thing the 80s, this is my first reef set up though. The tank is 209gal Oceanic that I have owned since 1990, it sat for probbaly15 years due to the fact of moves and so on. Well my wife and I finaly bought our dream home a few years back but still had to decide where I want to set it up so it was just a good convesation piece this is a pic of it the first couple of years in the new house

finaly one day when my wife went to work and left me home alone I decide it was time to start our reef build and just dived in head first out came the saws all

one thing I have learned quickly in this hobby don't go cheap or should I say don't buy something thinking it will get you by till later, the money I've thrown away ! my saying now is buy right or buy twice. Here I have some sump area pics. when I first set the system up

and here are some pics. a year later, my how things change
IMG_0861.jpg

anyway about month in to this build decide we need ref. so it was time to add on to cabnet, this was only after get permission to take up more room in our family room

during this time I also knew it was time for the Brutt trash can to go, so I designed a water change system to go under the cabnet. This set up consist of 48"x 24"x20" tank devied in the middle water flows threw half and the other is the mix side set up with auto top off from my ro/di just by switching a couple valves I can do a 40gal water change in about 15 min. and tank never knows it's going on

thanks again, well earlier you may rember me saying something about buying twice well the lighting that was going to get me by didn't. Two 36" Coralife pros 150 MH just don't cut it over 7' tank so I made some reffectors and replaced the fixtures with four 250 watt MHs and 320watts of VHO antics then if that wasn't enought replaced two center 250s with 400s
IMG_0436.jpg

ok how about some tank pics of where we are now

Ok here we go frag system build, everything in my DT system has come from a frag wheath bought or just trade from guys in local reef club. I really didn't like have egg crate shelf hanging in my DT so the need for a frag tank came into play. I planned to build the tank myself but my buddys convinsed me to buy one and I wish I'd stayed with the build it myself plan as you can see above the frame work for the stand. I designed this to be open cabnet for easy maintance and it's not for show.

I did this build in real time on another forum and most couldn't figure out what my plan for the up rights were for so lets see
IMG_0633.jpg

as you see the cross bar is for mounting light rail with a 250 watt MH
well now it's time to skin the top
