I just got magnesium test kit (sailfert) and it was 1500ppm. If I read it correctly.

My friend has a single 250watt over his 40 and if it is not directly underneith the light it is in shadow. But wouldn't 2x150watt be more then a single 250watt?

Depends on the bulbs and ballasts.

If you desire output:

2 x 150watt 10k XM bulbs (with or without supplemental actinics) would be another option.

I am thinking about going to a lower a lower kelvin for faster growth. I am not sure about the 10k but I might go down to 12k. I just really like the color of the sps with a higher kelvin and I would rather have the colorful corals with 14k then fast growing brown ones with 6500k. But I am going to replace my bulbs to a higher quality bulb in a couple months or so. I think the ones they put in there are pieces of crap.

I also got kents tech CB part A and B. I was looking for dry stuff but they didn't have it.
Once I get my calcium and alk up should the kalkwasser maintain it?
