I have a 24g nanocube. It had peppermint shrimp, cleaner shrimp and bunch of snails and hermits. I got two baby maroon clowns yesterday. One big slightly larger than 1 inch, and one small slightly less then 1inch. At first the big one just chase the small one if it gets close enough. But they were happy swimming around checking out the tanks.

Today, I see the big one mouth slighty puffy. They have been fighting the whole evening. They bite each other, lock lips, twisting and turning like siamese fighting fish. Should I be worried? I would assume the big one to dominate the small one. But it looks like they are dead even...I would even say the small one is kind of dominating.

I hope it stops soon because it looks a lil violent. What should I do? Separate them or is this natural?

They are very pretty though. The small one even went and host in the Xenia I have at night. The large one just spent the whole night on a corner of a tank. The tank is big enough for them to roam though.

Any ideas? thanks. I am new to this hobby. :D

Hi Nhan. This is perfectly natural. The ones here pick and fight all day long. They are still juveniles, and very normal.

Keep an eye out in the next couple of days. If they don't stop, you are welcome trade one for a smaller one from me.

Thanks Ilham. Yea they have been fighting but I think they resting now. I think the small one have took over this little corner of the tank where the big one hang out yesterday. Not sure what is so special about that spot. There's a whole tank to hang out...and they hang out by the thermometer under the filter...get away from water flow?

The small one is quite a character though...I think he's really smart. so I don't want to give him up. :) I will see what happens the next few days. As long as you say it's normal and I am not commiting any clown abuse...

Elmo,

Thanks very much. They have calmed down and have taken different sides of the tank...still nip here and there...but not so full out fight. They like the formula 1 but doesn't really like the brine shrimp. Thanks again :)

Hey Nhan, glad to hear they mellowed a bit, hope they become friends in the near future.
