Yes, i bought one large piece of LR for coralline and then got some small ones that came with corals i bought. Do youhave a link to a Cirolnid Isopod?

Heres a clue, when i got off work and was exhausted, i could be just seeing things. I was moving around the tank to see if could find a clown and i see out of the corner of my eye, this thing that looked like squid that you feed your sharks (my buddy has one) and it darted off a rock into a cervice, i figured i just imagined it, but maybe that the culprit

#1 Elmo and my LFS are in cahoots and trained these highly intelligent clowns to swim back to their owners. Kind of like the dog in the movie "snatch" that would steal the diamond and give it back to the owner

#2 Our Moorish Idol helped the clown get into the filter and a pelican put him in his mouth and swam him to the ocean. Then the little clownfish was reunited with his father.

LOL!!! i tell you dood, you are hilarious and now you are even seening things :D
is there anyway i mean since you are on line at night  that you could check your tank with a flash light and may be take a picture of your imaginary friend :D i mean the thing ?

Jiddy, spear gun with night scope, big ol' piece of bait and wait for him........

I doubt it is a cirolanid isopod. They wouldn't kill your fish right away, and you might see them on the fish. Jiddy - you can watch the tank at night with a red light. It won't help you with mantis because they can see in that spectrum, but it might help to see what that other thing was. I'm not sure....was it like a worm? How long has the first clown been missing?

Hmmm, yes, very unlikely that it is an isopod, as they usually hitchhike on fish and as Nikki says, does not kill fish right away.

Since you got rock from another person, it may be possible you got a mantis....an unlikely chance of a green atlantic brittle star....or something else.

Do you have a lot of flow or closed loops Jiddy?

- Elmo

Well its hard to look at my tank at night because im at work, it makes me mad to think he is doing all the destruction when i aint home

I was thinkin maybe the "creature" never gave the previous owner any trouble because the lunar wrasse was the "protector" of the tank, i dont think its a brittle star

and as far as what i seen Nikki, i wouldnt put money on it, today i seen a mouse in the yard that was actually a clump of grass, made me think of how i just see things when i get home, lol

Ilham, about time you jumped in this conversation, your PM must be broken, lol. As far as flow i have two CL's with Mag12's, i thout maybe that is what killed my bluedamsel so i bought screens for those, as far as PH's i have a small rink-a-dink Seio that keeps my sides stirred, i checked that and it was free of clowns, plus it is really weak anyways.

Thanks for the help guys, tonite im going to be a shrimp cocktail in a glass to see if a crab or something falls in there, and my LFS is ordering me a trap

If my other methods dont work i might consider that, but i just took all that rock out to catch the damsel so i could put the clowns in there.

Anyways, here are some pics of the trap and a big ole' emerald crab that was happy to smell shrimp. The nass snails rolled up immediatly, some from across the tank literally

1) Trap with crab to the right
2) Crab
3) a second Em Crab who wanted to come out and eat but it was to bright, hmmm
4) Crab

ohh i love those crabs, sorry hehe.
well, can princess check the tank for you at night, it doesn't take to long.
she can just look aroudn with the flash light or whatever and then maybe take a picture.

ohh dood, you are gonna have to sell all your rocks and start all over again you have what's called .. the cursed of the fish hehhe :D just kidding dood.
hmm ok how big are those emerald crabs? and how big are your fishes?
now for how long do you go checking the tank?
do you hear anything? like let's say a ticking or anythign going on in there?

LOL!!! dood it would have been freaking hilarious if Jiddy would have been up the whole night trying to hear something :D... just kiddin doood !!!

Sadly, sometimes these things happen. A friend of mine recently lost her trigger. Here one day, then gone the next. How does a Trigger go MIA? There was no evidence of it outside the tank, and no pieces to be found inside the tank. An efficient clean-up crew is all we could come up with. Nothing wrong with the trigger, either. Its almost better to at least see a piece of the missing critter, that way you know what happened. Sorry to hear the clown is still gone, Jiddy.

Sometimes that just happens Jiddy. Don't get discouraged. Do try another fish - your damsel was living in there just fine and didn't you have a wrasse as well that was doing OK? Clowns are usually pretty hardy but who knows. I have a heck of a time with firefish. They are my favorite fish and I don't have a problem with them jumping they just disappear. I only have one orange and white one left. I used to have 2 - they swam together all the time and then one disappeared so I bought another one to have 2 again and once more one disappeared. I would love to try the purple ones but will wait till my new tank is set up and cycled (hope to have plumbing done this week) and maybe try again.

As far as fish Wayup, i did have a wrasse and a damsel do just fine, and right now i have a YT that is happy as can be that she has the whole tank to herself, thanks for the kind words, i was thinkin of orderin some green Chromis to see what happens
