 I just bought a fish that is similar to this guy. Mine had end of his body was blue with yellow dots and a yellow tail. I put him in last night and I cant seem to find him this morning. I took out half the rocks, but I couldnt find him. I have eggcrate over the top. strange huh. Im kinda pist because half the livestock I buy either disapeers or jumps out somehow. This guy was about 2 and a half inches long. I didnt find any bodyparts or anything. I think he was more beutiful than my coral beuty. Had to let out some steam, thanks.

Sorry to hear that...How many fish have you lost this way?? What other livestock do you have? My first thought was maybe he's hiding in a crevice in a rock that you haven't noticed, then I thought, maybe he took a ride in your overflow to your sump (if you have one) then maybe either one of your fish ate him or something else in your tank did. Could even be a hitchhiker you've had in your tank that you don't even know you have that is nocturnal could be eating your fish...Just a few thoughts though... Hope he turns up for you:)

You might just out of curiosity try baiting one night in the tank and see what comes out, keep a flashlight handy, you never know! I have heard of mantis shrimp that hitch rides in on LR causing small fish to dissapear with no trace.

The picture is of a juvi yellow tail red coris wrasse. They burrow into the sand to sleep or hide. Often the disappear for days when first introduced. Give it some time before you risk crushing it in the sand under a rock...

Good point Tank Diver Mike!!!:D When I first introduced a wrasse to one of my old tanks (90gal) he went straight under the substrate for 2 days (that was back in the days when I thought sand was cool:p )

Well, I have a 56 gallon tank with a coralbeuty, cleaner wrasse, royal gramma, some rock crawler fish, 2- three stripe wrasse, 1 sandshifter star,1 octopus looking star, banded shrimp, alot of snails and two conch snails. Oh yea and a tiny red star fish, about a quarter of an inch. I have an anemone that is pretty big with long tentacles, maybe he ate him. I looked in the sump, down the hoses and under my couch. Thats where I found on of my diamond gobies. I have lost may clowns, blue damsels, yellow tailed damsels, diamond gobies jumped out. I also lost a blond clown fish.

Thats great news, I hope He was in the other side of the tank or I might have crushed him this morning when I pulled out the rocks and rearanged them. So I take the rocks back out?

How did your do in your tank Krish? I just read that they eat snails, urchins, sea stars, brittle stars, shrimp, clams, and worms of all kinds. This doesnt sound good to my snails and sea stars and brittle stars. I might have to move him to my starfish only tank in my room. Well It only has a chocalate chip in it at this time. But in time I will be buying some general's.

How did your do in your tank Krish?

Mine did pretty well! I got him really small for in a tide pool and he went from my 90gal with sand to my 75gal (without sand) and still did really. He would sleep in the holes in my live rock and was always the first to the top of the tank when I fed.:)

Great news I found him. He decided to come out and bless us with his presence. Heres a few pics of him from my cell phone cam. These pics do him no justice. P.S Does anybody know if so-hal tangs are reef safe? Sorry pics are so small.
