Monti eating nudi?

Is there such a thing as a Monti eating Nudi? What does it look like? How do you get rid of it?

Yes there is a Monti. eating Nudibranch. Very hard to get rid of short of breaking off (fragging) the uninfected areas and throwing the rest of the coral away. Had a run in with them a few months ago. Lost 98% of all my Monti. Caps and Monti. Digitatas. Had Caps as big as dinner plates now have pieces maybe 2-3 inches across. Lost my best one completely.

Are they always white?

I have seen success = blasting them with a syringe full of lugols.... actually squeezing it out over them slowly so they will saturate. Seems to work, but no telling how many little ones are lurking elsewhere. Time will tell.

Anyone know of a predator for these?

they lay their eggs on the under side of the monti. caps or at the very base of digis. I soaked mine in very strong solution of lugol's. Didn't even slow them down.

i have been battling them for a few months now.. i hunt them at night now with a flashlight..i pull them off with tweezers.. i dip my monti caps about once a week in a strong Lugols solution...i scrub the underside with a toothbrush during the dip... they are very hard to get rid of.. i rarely see them anymore, but i know they are still there as long as i see at least one.. i guess they hide on rockwork as well during the night.. i found one on a rock last week... i sometimes use superglue underneath the monti caps if i see one.. i put it all underneath in an attemp to get them all and there eggs

I wonder if you could Isolate your Monti's in the middle of the night if the Nudi's have a tendency to hide in the rockwork at night.

Maybe make something like this to keep it suspended until the nudi's die off from starvation?

At least a dozen maybe more. Odds are there a eggs clusters on the bottom side

Matter of a few days to a week depending on how many. They multiply like rabbits

I had a white streek on my monti that appeared about 2 weeks ago. I had made an equipment change which reduced the flow to the area of the tank where this cap sat. I thought it was nudis, but now I'm thinking flow as I added a new tunze nono and the white seems to be disappearing slowly. I took a good look and couldn't see any white fleshy looking creatures like in the photos, just the white streak in a crease on the cap.

Praziquantel (for fish, cats, and dogs) nukes these guys. Hit 'em hard and hit 'em quick and your monti's will thank you.
