Has anyone tried mounting Radions to the top of their hood?

I'm considering getting a couple Radions to replace my two MH lights, but my tank has a hood and I'm curious if there is a way to mount the lights so you can still lift the hood up? I use side doors for feeding the fish, so I rarely ever lift up the top of the hood. I know Radions sell hanging kits, but I'm worried that will simply turn the lights into expensive pendulums, and I'm wondering if there is a way to securely attach them to the top of the hood. I also know the Radions have controls on the top, so I'll probably want to leave some space between the lights and the hood.

Thanks, Sculpin

Lots of folks are doing this. The Ecotech vendor forum on RC has lots of pics and ideas. One of the best I've seen used wiremold on wall wire channel.

Hello,

Hope you share pics of how you choose:) I have seen two installs of them, one was around 12" off water(free hanging) and at the LFS they have them 24" off(free hanging). LFS tanks are getting some indirect light from large windows.

Best of Luck!
