wwouu dood that looks awesome !!! :) .
I can't believe your skimmmer is bigger than your daughter though :p :D .
By the way, she forgot her cheese hat :D  .

Does anyone know if the output of the skimmer can be under water or not?

Some skimmers can work with the output submerged, but like mine (The AquaC EV120) has to be above water level...:)

Thanks James & Gaby!

Gaby she is actually about an inch taller than the skimmer. She is just sitting on the table next to it.

By the way, she forgot her cheese hat

When the packers beat the seahawks on Monday Nov. 27th I will send you a cheese hat.

I might have missed it while scrolling through this thread searching for pics, but have you given thought to power outtages and back siphoning from your tank upstairs?

Because the way it appears, (based on this photo) you have nothing that will prevent a power outtage causing a back siphon to the acrylic sump....which could quite easily overflow.

Good work otherwise...and I'm just looking out for your basement floor.

Nick I have siphon break holes drilled in the two outputs on the return line. It does siphon a little back but not to much. I was very nervous about using the old sump as the return chamber (kinda small) so I had a few simulated power outages. I have about 2" left when everything drains back. I don't want to admit it but I thought it would never work. My wife insisted it would and pounded me with her logic. Man I hate it when she's right. Thanks for looking out thought, that could have been a big mess.

Good to hear your watching out for Murphy.

If I can make a suggestion, rather than siphon break holes, why not just cut your sump return to the length of the highest siphon break hole.

This way you dont have to worry about a snail crawling across it when the power goes out if no one is home.

Thats not a bad idea Nick. I never thought about that. I am going to have to switch it around. You know Murphy is always lurking.

Thanks Nick

Looks great Brian!!! Your little one is adorable, too!

Thanks Nikki!! She is my big helper. She stuck it out and helped me throughout the whole project and God knows I'm not the fastest person around:lol:

I ordered one of these today
http://www.oceanussystems.com/products/atlas.aspx I had been going back and forth between this one and the Tunze. I guess the winning factor was that when I called Oceanus Systems the people there were extremely helpfull and had no problem answering all my dumb questions. Hopefully I made the right choice.

Here is a picture of the Oceanus Systems ATO I recently picked up. These things are really built well.

Got anymore pics of the whole setup?

I wish I did but something is seriously going wrong with my digital camera. It is taking just awful pictures lately and nothing I seem to do is helping. I think it is time for the junk. FWIW it took me at least 10 tries to get that crapy picture out of it. It doesn't even pay to try to take tank shots because they all come out blury. I think it is something in the electronics going bad because the lens clean. It makes me mad, it use to take great pictures.
